The day after he graduated from college Bill began his career as cameraman for a Columbus television station. He honed his craft for the Governor’s office, the Ohio Department of Development and the Federal Government before starting his own production company with two partners.
A few years later he branched out on his own with both a film studio and a computer graphics business. His experience in 3-D animation led to a job developing computer animation software and hardware. In 1989 he was working in Silicon Valley when the 7.1 quake rolled through, and shortly afterward he returned to production, this time melding film and computer graphics into a multimedia production company.
During ten years in California, Bill produced multimedia projects for companies like Intel, IBM, Sega, AMD, General Electric, Hewlett Packard, and Microsoft while lecturing on the computer convention circuit, teaching multimedia and co-authoring a textbook on the subject.
He returned to Ohio for the 21st Century, where he continued his production work, focusing on Web sites and interactive museum exhibits. He started a digital media curriculum for OSU’s Workforce Development Center, but fell in love with the campus at COTC, and accepted the position as head of the digital media program.
Bill still maintains his company, Interactive Engineers, in order to stay current with digital media trends and is working on a 3-D animation textbook for designers.

My background is in marketing. I found my calling as the person companies hired to tap new markets and territories, and I was very successful at it. In addition to the logistics and work of marketing itself, I soon found myself designing every type of marketing material known to mankind and loving it.
Next came college. At the age of 37 I enrolled in a brand new degree program called “Digital Media Design” at COTC. I graduated two and a half years later (with honors) and subsequently landed a job as the Vice President of Marketing and Technology for the highest dollar volume realty group in Ohio. I ended up being responsible for every piece of visual material produced in the office for both the web and in print. Nirvana! Websites, print work, photography...a dream come true. Sales soared during my tenure as did my knowledge and experience in the industry.
Then one of my former instructors from COTC called and asked if I would like to teach. The rest is history. Part-time teaching soon turned into full time teaching, and I’m now a full-time instructor at my first alma mater teaching what I love, design in all its shapes, forms and mediums.
I also have a portfolio website at www.katkinney.com

Katie also earned a Masters Degree in Business Communications from Jones International University while working full-time at TRECA.
In 2006, Katie made the career move to the thriving metropolis of Newark, Ohio when she accepted a position in the marketing department at Park National Bank. She was hired to oversee the bank’s advertising and external communication.
