Web Design 101
Got what it takes to be a Web Designer? How many of these Web Design Guidelines do you know?
- Users don't read, they scan.
- Web users are impatient; if they can't find what they need quickly, another site is just a click away.
- Users don't make optimal choices; they choose the first reasonable (close enough) option
- Users want to have control. They don't want new windows popping up unexpectedly, and they want the "Back" button to work.
- Users follow their intuition. They muddle through instead of reading directions.
- Users expect standard conventions (like top or left navigation); users learned how the Web works from visiting other sites.
